An industry leader in designing, engineering, and manufacturing fully automatic transmissions, Allison Transmission’s® commitment to the oil and gas market is evident through the 9832 Oil Field Series (OFS) transmission for fracking applications.

Available through Western Branch Diesel, a member of the Indel Power Group, this lightweight and compact transmission design can be easily integrated into existing rigs. The 5th generation controls provide prognostics, such as oil-life monitoring, filter-life monitoring, and an active oil level gauge, intended to assist with monitoring and scheduling preventive maintenance, with less downtime.

Also included are features such as the Torsional Measuring Diagnostic (TMD), converter overheat protection, pressure test mode, quick to neutral, and shift energy management. The 9832 OFS is known for its reliability and durability in a market with ever increasing duty cycles.

“Allison is absolutely committed to the oil and gas market and has invested in resources specific for the O&G market. In recent years that’s been done through direct hires, facilities, and technology,” says Jill Massonne, Director, Global Off-Highway Sales, Allison Transmission. “This includes improvements to the overall robustness of the 9832 OFS, which were put into production in May 2019, and the recent release of our TMD to help operators detect potentially damaging torsional vibration both up and downstream of the transmission that could lead to rig damage.”

Western Branch Diesel will service all Allison transmissions. The company places a high value on continued training and education for their technicians, which allows for quick diagnosis and repair of engines and transmissions. Parts are readily available through their stocked parts department. Genuine parts maximize performance, prolong the life of your equipment, and meet today’s strict requirements. Customers can take comfort in knowing their equipment will function as expected.

“We haven’t seen any major problems with the transmission. The customers have been pleased,” says Mike McElwain, Regional Off-Highway Service Manager, Western Branch Diesel. “The 9832 OFS transmissions in our region are used primarily in oil field and oil well fracking in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. This transmission is proven in the industry for quality and reliability.”

Western Branch Diesel is available to service all of your Allison transmission needs through any of their eight service locations. They also offer 24/7 service, on call, by their factory-trained technicians, who will come directly to the customer, as well.

The 9832 OFS transmission has been highly successful, and Allison is working on new technology to be unveiled in summer 2021. To learn more, contact our Industrial sales team.
