Volvo Penta has been chosen to be the standard propulsion system supplier for the CABO 41 sportfishing yacht, which made its debut at the 2019 Miami International Boat Show this week.

The first CABO 41 is fitted with twin Volvo Penta 11-liter 725 hp diesels and Electronic Vessel Control (EVC), along with an impressive list of Volvo Penta’s Easy Boating features, providing an unbeatable combination for the serious sport fishing enthusiast.

Key features of the Volvo Penta integrated propulsion system include joystick driving and docking, electronic steering, autopilot, cruise control, single-lever mode, low-speed mode, Glass Cockpit helm station and the Easy Connect mobile app for remote connectivity with mobile phones and wireless personal devices.

Western Branch Diesel, Volvo Penta’s marine Power Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, provided sales and technical support for specifying, installing, and testing the propulsion package in the newly designed CABO 41.

“The Volvo Penta 725s are the perfect fit for the CABO 41, offering industry-leading power-to-weight ratio and a best-in-class torque curve, ensuring rapid acceleration, faster time to plane and easy maneuverability at low RPMs, not to mention Volvo Penta’s Easy Boating features,” said Herb Haneman, president of Western Branch Diesel. “The first installation on the newly reconstituted CABO production line in New Bern went very smoothly, thanks to the Hatteras engineering team and applications support from Volvo Penta.”

CABO will also offer Volvo Penta’s D11 670 and 625 hp diesels as alternative power options on the 41, according to Haneman.

“We couldn’t be happier with the Volvo Penta propulsion package, which gives a complete helm-to-prop integrated solution, with extras that set the CABO 41 apart from competitive sportfishing yachts,” said Kelly Grindle, president and CEO of CABO Yachts. “It’s the perfect power choice for the revitalized CABO brand, which targets sportfishing enthusiasts who want to pursue their passion for offshore angling with no compromise in comfort.”

“It’s an honor to be associated with Hatteras’ relaunch of the iconic CABO brand and a pleasure to work with the superb engineering team at Hatteras,” said Jens Bering, vice president, marine sales, Volvo Penta of the Americas. “We also extend our gratitude to Western Branch Diesel for playing a critical role in achieving this important milestone for Volvo Penta, Hatteras and CABO.”
