In 2004, the Virginia Beach Billfish Foundation created an annual fishing tournament to give back to the community through youth development and marine-related charities. They believe “the future belongs to our children, and it’s our responsibility to support them and conserve our marine resources for them.”
Since its start, the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament has raised over $850,000 for charities and conservation organizations such as Achievable Dream, Boys & Girls Clubs, Stop Abuse, and the Billfish Foundation while highlighting fishing opportunities off Virginia Beach. In sixteen years the tournament has grown increasingly popular throughout Hampton Roads. In 2018 the tournament broke its own record for teams and anglers registered, at 80 and 574 respectively.
